GP Expert Witness – Clinical Negligence, Regulatory & Coroners’ Proceedings
I am a highly experienced UK General Practitioner providing independent expert medical evidence in clinical negligence, regulatory, and Coroners’ Court proceedings. I am both a practising clinician and a sitting medical tribunal member, giving me a rare dual insight into how clinical decisions are made in real-world general practice and how expert medical evidence is scrutinised by courts and tribunals.
Clinical Background & Experience

Clinical Experience & Reputation
I am highly clinically regarded and have worked across more than 150 NHS GP practices throughout England. This breadth of experience gives me an in-depth understanding of GP clinical standards across a wide range of demographics, healthcare environments, and population needs, including urban, rural, affluent, deprived, and highly complex patient groups.
This allows me to:
- Assess clinical decision-making in context
- Avoid hindsight bias and theoretical assumptions
- Reflect the realities of modern UK general practice
- Provide opinions grounded in current frontline practice
I remain in active clinical practice, ensuring my expert opinions are current, credible, and clinically realistic.
Tribunal & Legal Decision-Making Experience
Alongside my clinical work, I hold judicial appointments as a Medical Tribunal Member, sitting on:
- Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS)
- First-tier Tribunal – Social Entitlement Chamber
In these roles, I regularly:
- Evaluate and test expert medical evidence
- Assess expert reasoning and methodology
- Apply medical, regulatory, and legal standards
- Contribute to findings on clinical standards, impairment, and sanction
- Apply the civil standard of proof (balance of probabilities)
This experience provides insight into how expert evidence is scrutinised, tested, and evaluated within tribunal and court proceedings.

Clinical Negligence Expertise
I accept instructions in GP clinical negligence matters, including:
- Alleged breaches of GP clinical standards
- Diagnosis, referral, and safety-netting decisions
- Long-term condition management
- Prescribing and medication errors
- Consent and shared decision-making
- Practice systems, continuity of care, and workload pressures
I am fully conversant with the legal principles governing clinical negligence, including:
- Bolam and Bolitho
- Montgomery and informed consent
- Duties and independence under CPR Part 35
My reports are clear, balanced, structured, and written to assist the court rather than advocate for any party.
Coroners’ Court Work
I accept instructions in Coroners’ Court proceedings, including:
- GP standards of care
- Deaths involving primary care decision-making
- Chronologies and causation analysis
- Reports addressing whether care was appropriate and reasonable
I am familiar with the inquisitorial nature of coronial proceedings and provide evidence that is objective, measured, and focused on assisting the Coroner.

Communication & Language Skills
I am regarded as an excellent communicator, able to explain complex clinical issues clearly and accessibly for solicitors, counsel, coroners, tribunals, and courts. I am fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu, in addition to English. This is particularly valuable in cases involving multilingual or South Asian patient populations, allegations relating to communication or consent, vulnerable patients or families, and Coroners’ Court proceedings, allowing for a more accurate assessment of what information was likely understood by patients and how clinical discussions realistically occurred, without reliance on interpreters.
Accreditation & Professional Standing
- Bond Solon Civil Expert Witness Certified
- Fully conversant with CPR Part 35 and Practice Directions
- Professionally indemnified for expert witness work
- Currently working towards a Diploma in legal medicine by The Faulty of Forensic & Legal Medicine
- GMC registered and in good standing
My overriding duty is always to the court or tribunal, and my reports are independent, balanced, and capable of withstanding scrutiny and cross-examination.
